Design School Head Praises Shen Yun in Toronto

Marilyn McNeil-Morin is the head of the School of Design at George Brown College. After seeing Shen Yun in Toronto at the weekend, she praised the show’s rich content.

[Marilyn McNeil-Morin, Design School Professor]:
“I thought it was splendid. I thought it was visually stunning. With all the layers of meaning behind the story and it was so much more to take in because the choreography, the music, the orchestra,  and also the singing all added different dimensions, to add to explaining the stories and the meaning and I just thought it was so much to take in, which made it powerful to watch.”

The costume design impressed her the most.

“What I love is how the dancers all moved together on stage, all in these gorgeous colors, with all the different elements of the costuming. Because a lot of times there were sleeves, there were other parts of the costumes, the fans, things like that that just the way they used them made it like a lot of movement and a tremendous amount of choreography that where they would all move together and you would get this whole different visual picture. For example, the piece Flowing Sleeves. The sleeves were very much a part of the whole story and added so much to the visual. The silk, the way that it flowed. You know it was stunning.“

Ms. McNeil-Morin says Shen Yun is a wonderful experience.
