Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company was greeted by fans at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The performers have just returned from a successful maiden tour of South America, performing 13 shows in Argentina, with 10 shows in Buenos Aires and 3 in Cordoba. And 3 shows in Santiago, Chile.
It was the first time Shen Yun traveled to Latin America and Lead dancer Vina Lee says the Spanish-speaking audience was very receptive to their performances.

[Vina Lee, Principal Dancer]:
“Because in dance the language is expressed through the body, so you don’t need to understand [Chinese] vocabulary to understand [the performance]. It is shown through the body. That’s what the audience says….I really really like the performers’ beautiful smiles. They come from their heart. I really like how they so naturally express their inner beauty.”

Lead dancer Brian Nie says there are big differences between North and South America.

[Brian Nieh, Shen Yun Dancer]:
“Here it’s summer, but there it is actually winter. So when we got off the plane it was actually a little bit cold. So we had to put on woolen sweaters and jackets.”

Shen Yun lead dancer Wendy Su says the South American tour really made her fond of the region.

[Wendy Su, Shen Yun Dancer]:
“The South American audience are very receptive. They almost instantly gave us standing ovations. They did this during our curtain call many times. They also were very warm with their standing ovations. They didn’t want to leave.”

She says the audiences’ appreciation of the arts was of a very high level.

[Wendy Su, Shen Yun Dancer]:
“They don’t only look at our costumes, the digital backdrop etc, they can really recognize the purpose and inner meaning of our performance.”

Shen Yun Touring Company are next performing in Westchester, New York, for one night only, on August 2.
